The Prowlers took on the (8-0) Hermantown Hawks Wednesday night at the Ralph Engelstad Arena. The first period went scoreless with neither team being able generate enough offence to generate a goal. The Prowlers failed to score on the first power play, and with just over a minute remaining in the first took a penalty to give the Hawks a man advantage. With just seconds left in the period John Narverud made a big save that robbed Hermantown’s Garrett Skrbich from making the first goal of the game. Narverud stopped all 11 shots in the first period, which provided the Prowlers a 0-0 tie going into the second period.
Hermantown started the 2nd period on a power play, but was unable to penetrate goaltender John Narverud. Going into the second period, the Prowlers began to show some offense as Micah Ranum’s shot hit the post. Just under halfway into the 2nd period, the Prowlers scored on their second power play to take a 1-0 lead, with Micah Ranum scoring the goal and Ryan Crosson and Brady Meunier earning the assists. The 2nd period ended 1-0, with both teams unable to score on their power plays.
In the 3rd period the Prowlers took a 2-0 lead with Ryan Crosson scoring. The goal coming on the 4th power play of the game for the Prowlers. With just 2:54 remaining in the game the Hermantown Hawks were able to cut the lead to 1, and then just 44 seconds later tied the game at 2-2, to stretch the game into OT and ultimately end the game in a tie.
